The Olive Egger is not a pure bred chicken breed and can be made from several crosses. Generally it is made from crossing a very dark brown egg shell layer with a true blue egg shell layer. This will produce, in the first generation, beautiful olive-colored eggs for your table. Breeding is from pure Cream Legbar Rooster over pure Welsummer to create a F1 Olive Egger. Good layers of various colored eggs. First eggs may be small but will increase to medium-large size.
The olive egg will vary in color in same hen, but also from hen-to-hen. All chickens have the genes to produce a variety of shades of the olive color shell. 97% of these hens will lay an olive-colored egg.
